A snowboard run in the heart of Montréal!
Montréal, Tuesday, November 11, 2014 – Once again this year, Tribu Expérientiel brings the mountain to downtown Montréal for the concluding event on its yearly calendar. SHACK ATTACK, the Snowboard and Freeski Urban Challenge, is transforming into something new, the Urban Snowboard Operation EMPIRE CITY TROOPERS. Still to take place in the Quartier Latin on St-Denis Street between Sherbrooke and Ontario, the event will now bring together the public and both home favourite as well as international athletes for a day entirely dedicated to snowboarding (Saturday, December 6, from noon to 10:30 pm).
Snowboard fans and the public at large are invited, free of charge, to experience the adrenaline-charged atmosphere and competition that will take place on a unique Slopestyle run and in Jam format. Qualifying runs are from 2:30 to 5 pm, semi finals and finals from 7 to 10 pm. Competitors – local stars and international athletes – will show off their prowess on a 25-foot run that follows that natural course of St-Denis Street. In fact, at 300 feet, this is the longest urban snowboard run in Canada. And just for the occasion, some 5,000 cubic feet of snow will be brought in for the event!
The “Ski Village” created for the last four editions of this fantastic event has morphed into an entirely new concept that leads spectators and participants to a futuristic universe. About 12,800 spectators came out in droves in 2013 and this year we think they’ll go wild over all the new attractions on the site, especially considering that Terrasse Rogers is designed to give such an impressive view of the run. Little kids (3 to 6 years old) can also be introduced to snowboarding from noon to 2:30 pm, thanks to the participation of popular snowboard brand, Burton. Bigger (much bigger!) kids-at-heart will enjoy the After Party at l’Abreuvoir, starting at 10:30 pm. And of course, the Rogers webcast – in English – will follow the event online starting at 7 pm.
“We are so stoked to sign a new three-year partnership agreement with Empire boutiques,” says Micah Desforges, President of Tribu Expérientiel and producer of the event. “This collaboration will bring the event to a whole new level. For starters, the prize money is going from $1,500 to $15,000! This has given us the muscle to attract international athletes.”

Our events shine a dazzling light on about fifteen sports, gathering roughly 75,000 spectators and 500 athletes from 10 countries. And all this in just the last year alone!”
Tribu Expérientiel also creates content. As such, the agency develops original televised productions for all its events that will be broadcasted in 98 countries beaming into 400 million households worldwide. This is made possible by a partnership with London based, Boulder Creek International, who specialize in international sports content production and distribution.
